About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Wakefield from September 2025. This role is perfect for individuals who are confident in leading a classroom and ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absences. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre-set lessons in the absence of teaching staff
  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences
  • Ensure students remain on task with their learning
  • Implement school behaviour and safeguarding policies
  • Record attendance and report absences appropriately
  • Manage classroom behaviour calmly and effectively
  • Liaise with teaching staff and heads of department regarding cover work
  • Encourage students to engage in tasks and participate in learning
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the relevant designated staff
  • Support students in understanding the lesson content
