Morgan Hunt are currently working with a UK Government Department in their search for an interim Legal Counsel to provide transactional and documentation support on a variety of activities, including supporting gilt and Treasury bill auctions and tenders.



You will support on a broad range of activities, including financial and commercial contracts, bond listing applications, non-disclosure agreements, terms of business, know-your-customer checks, counterparty on-boarding processes and other activities.



You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts and other documentation, researching and drafting notes of advice, attending calls and taking minutes, compiling and managing action lists, compliance checks as well as coordinating internal and external stakeholders.



The successful post-holder will be an experienced Lawyer or Paralegal, with a broad range of legal experience and the desire to expand their knowledge. You will have expertise and the ability to carry out high quality legal work in at least one of the following areas:

· Financial markets transactions (including Debt capital markets, money markets, derivatives, financial markets regulations, lending & fund management)

· Commercial contracts, property & intellectual property

· Employment, disputes and public law matters



You will have strong legal technical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and drafting skills. You will be a well communicated, proactive self-starter with a willingness to learn.

Job Title: Legal Counsel

Location: Hybrid - 3 days on-site (London-based office)

Day Rate: £250.00 - £300.00 (Umbrella)

Job Type: Temporary (6 months, with potential extension)

Hours: Full-time (36 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP







Key Responsibilities

· Provide transactional and documentation support across a variety of activities, including financial and commercial contracts, bond listing applications, NDAs, terms of business, know-your-customer checks, counterparty on-boarding processes and other activities..

· Support debt capital markets activities, including gilt auctions and Treasury bill tenders.

· Draft and review contracts, research and prepare notes of advice, and manage compliance checks.

· Compile and manage action lists, attend calls, take minutes, and coordinate internal and external stakeholders.

· Contribute to the development of legal and documentation processes and procedures.

· Maintain accurate filing and manage the legal team's know-how and precedent folders.

· Assist with ad-hoc tasks supporting the broader risk team as required.



Candidate Profile

· Qualified lawyer (preferred) or experienced Paralegal with a legal degree or qualification to practise law in England & Wales.

· At least 2+ years of experience in financial markets transactions, debt capital markets, or commercial contracts (other strong backgrounds will be considered).

· Knowledge across areas such as financial market regulations, commercial contracts, property, employment, disputes, and public law would be advantageous.

· Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and research skills.

· Ability to work independently and proactively, handling a varied caseload without close supervision.

· Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.

· Exceptional organisational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.

· Flexibility and willingness to support other operational or risk activities when required.
