If you're an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new role, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a primary schools in Leeds, making a profound difference every single day.

In this vital role, you will be supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and complex learning difficulties. This is more than just a job; it's a chance to build meaningful relationships and help students overcome barriers to learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored 1-to-1 and small group support to students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

  • Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials and create an accessible curriculum.

  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies, such as Team Teach or MAPA techniques, to create a safe and positive learning space. If certified.

  • Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress, celebrating every small victory.

  • Mentoring and modelling best practice for other support staff within the school.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children with SEN.

  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.

  • Proven experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.

  • Training in de-escalation and positive handling techniques (e.g., Team Teach) is highly desirable.

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, with a genuine commitment to the well-being of students.

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new one.
