If so, we are seeking dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join our team of supply staff. You will work in a variety of vibrant and supportive primary schools, providing crucial support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your specialist skills in different school environments, enjoy a varied work life, and make a real difference to children's educational journeys without the commitment of a permanent contract.

Your Role Will Involve:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with diverse needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).

  • Implementing and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with the class teacher and the school's SENCO.

  • Employing effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies to create a calm and productive learning environment.

  • Adapting learning materials to make the curriculum accessible and engaging for the pupils you support.

  • Fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and able to succeed.

  • Assisting with the personal care and physical needs of pupils where required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A minimum of a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent.

  • Proven, recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children with SEN in a primary school setting.

  • A strong understanding of the primary curriculum and strategies for supporting SEN learners.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.

  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to think on your feet in new environments.

  • Desirable: Specialist training such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS.
