If you're an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new role, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a primary schools in Leeds, making a profound difference every single day.
In this vital role, you will be supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and complex learning difficulties. This is more than just a job; it's a chance to build meaningful relationships and help students overcome barriers to learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Providing tailored 1-to-1 and small group support to students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials and create an accessible curriculum.

Implementing effective behaviour management strategies, such as Team Teach or MAPA techniques, to create a safe and positive learning space. If certified.

Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress, celebrating every small victory.

Mentoring and modelling best practice for other support staff within the school.
The ideal candidate will have:

A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children with SEN.

A relevant qualification, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.

Proven experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.

Training in de-escalation and positive handling techniques (e.g., Team Teach) is highly desirable.

A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, with a genuine commitment to the well-being of students.

An enhanced DBS on the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new one.
