Automation No.4 - Recast Rehearsals

Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time, experienced Automation No.4 - Recast Rehearsals on the London production of STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW.

Written by Kate Trefry, an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, directed by Stephen Daldry, co-directed by Justin Martin for the Phoenix Theatre and produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions.

The Position will run from 8th September 2025 to 16th November 2025 across the Production’s recast rehearsals.

Candidates will require relevant hands-on professional theatre experience in automation, the ability to work under pressure and within a team, and good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities.

Responsibilities include the maintenance and operation of the automation equipment for the production, overseeing automation operation, and working within a team to ensure that the show’s automation requirements remain true to the original concept.

Experience on a large scale production is desired and any candidate must be highly organised with good communication skills.

Start Date: 8th September 2025

End Date: 16th November 2025

Please Note: All applicants must be able to commit to the full contract and must have the right to work in the UK.

Job Location: West End London

Contract Type: Fixed term until 16th November 2025.

Salary: Weekly rate as per SOLT/BECTU Agreement.

Weekly Hours: 5 day working weeks (Tuesday to Saturday); 7 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
