Summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated ambitious individual to join a well-integrated team within the Department of Ophthalmology, in an ST1-2 post to support some aspects of ophthalmology, in particular medical retina and minor lid operations.
There will be opportunities with emergency ophthalmology, other clinic types and medical student teaching. The post is available from August 2025 for 6 months in the first instance. This post will be of interest to those who are looking to gain further experience in ophthalmology.
We typically receive several hundred applications for ST1/2 locally employed doctor posts and we will therefore only shortlist candidates with paid NHS experience (this does not include Clinical Access or Clinical Observership placements) which is an essential criteria within the Person Specification. Please do not apply if you do not have paid NHS experience as this leads to significant clinician time reviewing applications from applicants who will not be shortlisted.
Please read attached Job Description and Person Specification.
The Royal Victoria Infirmary has a large Ophthalmology department covering all aspects of ophthalmology and is well equipped with the full range of diagnostic equipment especially for medical retina including wide field OCTA, colour, FFA&ICG and electrodiagnostic tests.
For an informal discussion and further information regarding the opportunity and Directorate, please contactMr James Talks Clinical director via email at james.talks@nhs.net
