Role: Exams and Records Officer
Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible working considered) Term time plus 2 weeks
Salary: £27,300 FTE (£21,840 pro rata)
Location: Hybrid (Totnes or Truro)
Who we are
United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN), learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.
Who we need
We are looking for a highly organised Exams and Records Officer to join our Quality and Improvement team supporting ROC College. This role is essential to ensuring all internal and external examinations, coursework and assessment processes are carried out to a high standard and that our learners are given every opportunity to succeed.
This is a hybrid role. You will work from home with an expectation to attend either our Totnes or Truro base (depending on your nearest location). You will be required to work from your base during exam weeks (two weeks, three times a year), during External Quality Assurance visits, and during other key periods as agreed with your line manager.
Making it happen – your role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full administration of internal and external examinations and coursework, ensuring all processes meet awarding body requirements. You will manage exam entries, timetables, materials and results, liaising with awarding bodies, venue providers and internal colleagues to ensure smooth and compliant delivery.
You will support students with special educational needs, including organising appropriate Access Arrangements, and oversee the secure handling of all exam-related materials.
Your role will also include managing course registrations, supporting verification visits, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to data reporting and quality improvement processes.
In addition, you will promote the service at events, work collaboratively with curriculum teams, and help share good practice across the college.
What we are looking for
• Experience of administering exams or managing academic data within an educational setting
• Strong organisational and IT skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A clear understanding of awarding body procedures and quality assurance processes
• An ability to communicate confidently and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
• A flexible and proactive approach to work, with a commitment to continuous improvement and learner support
The benefits
In return for your passion and commitment, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
• 20 days paid annual leave plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time), which increases after 3 and 5 years’ service
• Pension contribution
• Childcare vouchers
• Access to free occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling and advice services
• Fully paid training and access to nationally recognised qualifications
• Travel to work scheme (season ticket loan)
• Access to an online shopping platform with discounts from over 3,500 retailers
• And most importantly, the chance to make a positive difference to someone’s life every day
United Response is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people we support. We expect all involved with the service to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this.
All successful candidates will be expected to apply for Enhanced DBS Clearance. We are unable to employ or engage any person who is subject to a prohibition order made under section 141B of the Education Act 2002.
