Summary
Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Lewisham
Long Term Futures are working with a large, well-structured secondary school in Lewisham to appoint a Behaviour Mentor for the start of the new academic year.
The school has an excellent pastoral team and a dedicated behaviour support unit. With clear systems in place, staff are supported to create a consistent and respectful environment for learning.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take an active role in supporting students who need additional help with behaviour, focus and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH or behavioural needs
* Work alongside Heads of Year and the SENCo to implement behaviour plans
* Support students within lessons and during transitions or social times
* Contribute to behaviour tracking, reviews and re-engagement strategies
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students and promote positive routines
* Liaise with families, internal staff and external agencies where needed
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience in a behaviour support, youth work or SEMH-focused role
* A calm, confident and consistent approach to challenging behaviour
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport
* Understanding of safeguarding and restorative behaviour techniques
* A background in PRUs, inclusion teams or mentoring is highly desirable
Location and Transport - Lewisham, South East London
* Accessible via Lewisham (National Rail, DLR), Catford and Ladywell stations
* Local bus routes include: 21, 136, 185, 199, 261, 436
* On-site parking available for staff
