Summary

SEND Teacher - Alternative Provision - Barking & Dagenham
Pay: £175- £225 per day

We are seeking SEND Teachers for supply work at an Ofsted-graded Good Alternative Provision in Barking & Dagenham for the 2025-26 academic year.

This highly respected specialist setting supports children and young people with Complex Needs and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The school offers a personalised curriculum tailored to each learner's physical, sensory, and cognitive needs, with a strong emphasis on communication, personal care, and fostering independence.

Classes are small, typically comprising 6-8 students, and benefit from excellent support by experienced Teaching Assistants and therapists. The school features outstanding facilities, including sensory rooms and accessible outdoor learning spaces. You'll join a warm, collaborative team where every staff member plays a vital role in supporting each pupil's development and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience teaching pupils with PMLD and Complex Needs
  • Be confident delivering a multi-sensory, student-led curriculum
  • Be knowledgeable in communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or Intensive Interaction
  • Be comfortable supporting personal care and medical needs (training provided if required)
  • Hold QTS, QTLS, or possess equivalent SEND teaching experience

The school, located in the heart of Barking & Dagenham, serves students aged 4-16 with a range of complex needs including Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Conditions, Communication Disorders, and PMLD. All students have an Education Health Care Plan, and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants play an essential role in implementing these plans.
