Main duties and responsibilities: To provide smoking cessation advice and support through established groups, one-to-one and telephone interventions in local community settings. To provide smoking cessation interventions in line with the evidence base and to agreed National standards. To utilise motivational techniques, assess clients motivation to quit smoking and maintain relationships with the client group to support smoking cessation. To develop an action plan with the client and discuss the use of appropriate pharmacological support suitable to them. To take responsibility for continuous learning knowledge of smoking cessation using the NCSCT online training packages. To establish and maintain operational links and relationships with a variety of professionals and organisations e.g. health professionals in primary and secondary care; workplaces; community groups particularly in targeted areas, and of deprivation. To use agreed and established Outcome Monitoring Tools and any other relevant quality measures. To manage the transfer of individuals between agencies and services. To counsel individuals about their smoking, using motivational interviewing, relapse management and other evidence-based interventions. To ensure full risk assessment and risk management is delivered effectively, under supervision. To ensure the highest quality of service is delivered by following local and national quality and performance standards, guidance, protocols, procedures and practice guidelines. To ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, including the Serious Incident policy. This is an outline of the post holders duties and responsibilities.
