The role:
We are seeking a Technical Support Admin Assistant to provide support in the organisation and administration of Waste Education tasks, including coordination, task allocation, and updating relevant IT systems.
You will deliver excellent customer care by liaising directly with customers to verify eligibility for additional refuse services.
Key responsibilities:
Act as the main support contact for Waste Education Team Environmental Services, handling customer queries, updating records, and advising on proper waste disposal and liaising with Waste Education Officers to resolve issues promptly
Collaborate with other Council departments and external partners as needed and handle enquiries from clients, council members, and stakeholders
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external contacts to improve services
Manage service requests received via CRM, email, phone, or in person and help streamline processes using IT systems
Provide timely, accurate responses to all enquiries
Maintain organised records; confidently manage customer calls and follow-up actions
Use CRM systems like BARTEC Collective to track and update service activities; support staff monitoring under Lone Working policies
Create and manage databases from Refuse Crew Activity to track recycling compliance and outcomes from Waste Education Officer interventions
What the client is looking for:
Holds a relevant qualification or has equivalent experience in the field
Strong operational experience within the service area, including knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements
Delivers high-quality administrative and coordination tasks across a range of functions
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams and systems such as SAP, Goss, Dynamics, Power BI and confident in producing, interpreting, and presenting performance data
Communicates clearly and professionally with residents, ensuring accurate and meaningful information is recorded to meet both resident and Council needs
Acts as a subject matter expert, contributing to larger projects or leading smaller ones independently
Demonstrates empathy and understanding of resident needs while balancing organisational constraints
Provides specialist clerical, financial and transactional support to ensure team effectiveness and able to produce and analyse management reports
Resolves escalated internal and external queries through sound analysis and application of policy
Maintains compliance records in line with regulatory and policy requirements
Serves as a key contact for colleagues on waste education processes and issues
Possesses solid knowledge of statutory duties and reporting requirements; maintains accurate records in accordance with Council policies
Identifies and recommends improvements to processes
Understands waste and recycling services and consideration of obstacles to compliance
Supports policy development and advises colleagues based on up-to-date regulations and Council priorities
Conducts detailed analysis to solve problems and inform decision-making using data and evidence
