Your new company
A leading energy generation facility in Deeside is seeking a skilled and experienced Shift Engineer to join their operations team. The site plays a key role in supporting the UK's energy infrastructure and offers a dynamic, safety-focused working environment.
Your new role
As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility, ensuring compliance with site procedures and contractual obligations. This is a lone-working shift role where you will manage operations independently, perform maintenance tasks, and support high-voltage (HV) systems up to 400kV. You'll also be involved in fault diagnosis, issuing safety documentation, and liaising with contractors and suppliers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating the facility in line with site rules and market requirements
- Performing planned and unplanned maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Managing isolations and issuing safety documentation up to 400kV
- Acting as a Senior Authorised Person for LV and HV operations (6.6kV to 400kV)
- Working independently on a shift basis
- Supporting the shift roster and providing cover as needed
What you'll need to succeed
- HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Strong electrical background with the potential to become HV authorised
- Experience in large industrial process environments
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and HV/LV switching
- Computer literacy and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure
