Summary


We are recruiting a housekeeper for an adult rehabilitation Unit at 439 Ipswich Road. This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and professional housekeeper to be part of the support team at 439 Ipswich Road to provide a high quality housekeeping service. The ideal candidate will be approachable, flexible and willing to work as part of a team.

439 Ipswich Road is a rehabilitation unit caring for adults in mental health crisis. The successful application will be working as part of the housekeeping team supporting Unit Staff in maintaining the unit environment, and working with the inpatients to meet their housekeeping needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by regularly cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and communal areas in line with infection control standards.
• Support clinical staff by ensuring patient areas are tidy, well-stocked, and conducive to recovery and comfort.
• Respond promptly to spillages and environmental issues, liaising with the Estates Help Desk and Support Services to resolve them efficiently.
• Monitor the cleanliness of patient equipment and arrange specialist cleaning when necessary.
• Engage with patients to ensure they have access to essential toiletries and that their dietary needs are met, including assisting with menu choices and meal distribution.
• Promote tidiness and uphold PLACE (Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment) standards among staff and patients.
• Ensure correct segregation and disposal of waste in accordance with Trust policies and infection control guidelines.
• Conduct regular checks of ward kitchens, ensuring food storage areas are clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene standards.
• Liaise with Facilities and Estates teams to report and follow up on environmental concerns, repairs, or maintenance needs.
• Stay up to date with mandatory training and attend relevant in-service sessions to maintain high standards of safety and care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To work with the domestic staff allocated to your unit(s) to ensure that there is a high standard of cleanliness.
2. Spot clean and ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently
3. Bring to the attention of nursing staff any shortfalls in cleanliness of patient equipment.
4. Undertake cleaning of spillage’s, including body fluids in line with Trust infection control policies and procedures
5. An awareness of all infection control issues
6. Arrange for specialist cleaning as and when required, i.e. carpet cleaning, deep cleaning.
7. Address that the patient has all toiletry requisites
8. Responsible for keeping the unit tidy by encouraging both staff and patients to be aware of the standards expected by PLACE.
9. Ensure that segregation and disposal of waste is disposed of according to the Trust’s Waste Management Policy
10. Take responsibility to ensure that mandatory training is up to date
11. Able to access and keep self-updated via eLearning/OLM
12. Awareness of one’s own self-development needs and attend appropriate course as agreed at appraisal
13. Attend in-service and other training as required, including food hygiene, infection control
14. Awareness of the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy, ensuring that a full understanding of the duty of care to patients, visitors, other members of staff and you is upheld as at all times.
15. To liaise with clinical staff and the catering Department to ensure that patient’s dietary needs are catered for wherever possible.
