Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)
Reporting to: The Employer
Location: Peckham, London SE15
Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is a 6-year-old male living in the SE15 area of London who is looking for a Personal Assistant to provide support for 6 hours per week.
Our client has Cerebral Palsy and requires extra help with his mobility, communication, play and comfort.
Main duties:
Duties would include, but not be limited to:
School collection during term time (a short debrief with his teacher/LSA, and then pushing his wheelchair approx.10 mins to get home)
Administering blended food via a feeding tube
Engaging in meaningful ways (including conversation, reading stories, sensory activities, and enjoying music together)
Personal care (Incontinent care, changing clothes)
Postural care (using a hoist system to help our client move between pieces of equipment for comfort and variety)
Attentiveness to physical needs (reflux, muscle spasms, positional discomfort, etc)
These duties may vary from day-to-day.
Type of person that you/they are looking for:
Values: someone that is honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, willingness to travel and understands equality and diversity.
Specific requirements: No previous experience is necessary, but we need someone who is not fazed by medical devices and bodily fluids. Someone who will communicate reliably with the family.
Hours of work: 6 hours per week to be worked over 2/3 shifts
Rate of pay: £15 per week
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
Driving licence
Car and appropriate insurance
Willingness to Lean as full training provided
Good communication skills
Confidentiality
Good at building relationships
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
