Are you a senior developer with knowledge of cloud?

An exciting opportunity has arisen in North Yorkshire Council for a dynamic and experienced Emerging Technology (ET) Lead to join our newly formed Emerging Technology Team to drive innovation from concept to production and refine what is possible in local government.

The role is hybrid with expectation to attend offices in North Yorkshire when required including County Hall Northallerton – typically 2 days/week in the office.

What You Can Bring

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in programming (from prototype to production), and strong knowledge in Cloud Computing and platforms such as Azure and AWS etc. Practical knowledge of generative AI (e.g. GPT, Gemini) is desirable but not essential.

The Role

As the ET Lead, you will play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge emerging technologies that harness AI, automation, machine learning and LoT etc.

You will be responsible for;

· leading the research, design, prototype, pilot and scale up ET solutions that solve business challenges.

· leading a specialist matrix team

· collaborating with colleagues across technology and business services

· ensuring the scalability, reliability and security of the solutions.

· working closely with vendors and stakeholders across the business

· translate complex business needs into robust technical outcome.

You will join innovation and collaboration network in public sector, share and promote NYC ambition at national level.

The Service

North Yorkshire Council (NYC) Technology Services provides effective ICT services across the North Yorkshire region, supporting 10,500 staff and 625,000 citizens.

Our mission is to drive innovation and efficiency, continually improving ICT services within the council and externally to businesses, communities, and volunteers. Following NYC’s transformation into a unitary authority in 2023, Technology Services plays a critical role in consolidating, improving, and developing our networks, infrastructure, and systems. Inspired to become a Centre of Excellence, we are running ET projects purposefully alongside convergence work.
