Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Sector: Transmission & Distribution | Energy | Infrastructure
Employment Type: Full-Time | Hybrid Working Available
Overview: A respected engineering consultancy operating in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support major UK infrastructure and energy projects. This role is based in Glasgow and offers a mix of office and site-based work with hybrid flexibility.
Role Summary: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of design-and-build and EPC projects, ensuring effective cost control, value engineering, and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across transmission infrastructure and power distribution schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project budgets and support financial planning from pre-contract through to final account.
- Administer contracts (primarily NEC3/NEC4) and assess compensation events and variations.
- Work closely with engineers and project managers to track costs and forecast commercial performance.
- Prepare and review tender documentation, subcontractor packages, and valuations.
- Support change control, risk management, and cost reporting procedures.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers regarding progress payments and contractual queries.
- Ensure all work aligns with relevant legislation, company procedures, and industry best practice.
Requirements
- Experience in Quantity Surveying within power, utilities, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
- Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts is essential.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline.
- Chartered or working toward RICS accreditation is desirable.
- Confident using Excel and commercial software (e.g., Cemar, SAP).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
