Position Overview
Located and based as Torpoint, the post holder manages the Corporate Communications and Reprographic Departments at HMS Raleigh. This includes delivering internal Communications and external Public Relations services in accordance with current MOD regulations and contractual requirements of the Hestia SW Contract.
To provide a positive perspective of the MOD and proactively promote stories of potential media interest.
Main Duties
-Provide an external public relations service including acting as the single point of contact for all PR and media enquiries and request for information.
-Implement the Employer's corporate communications strategies and ensure that he Establishment's corporate communication products are consistent with the Employer's Corporate Communications Policy.
-Liaise with the Directorate of Defence Media and the Employer's other press officers, including MOD and single-service press officers and regional media correspondents, as necessary to provide the service.
-Promote the Establishment, and the units located there, to the public and to the broader MOD community using all available media including social media flatforms.
-Identify and implement innovative solutions to meet the emerging demands of the business within contractual boundaries.
-Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations and the General Data Protection Regulations.
-Undertake any additional tasks as determined by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the emerging needs of the business, and authorised Public Events.

In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity. Pro-active and persuasive when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated, the incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values. In addition, the following is needed.
-A natural self-starter, with previous successful experience of media relations and PR work, capable of working both on their own initiative and as part of a team.
-Possesses good media knowledge with an ability to identify and build new media contacts.
-Management experience with good organisational and motivational skills and a high degree of integrity.
-Persuasive and credible verbal and written communication with the ability to develop close working relationships, with the ability to use clear language to explain often complex issues.
-IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
-Proactive approach and the ability to embrace and lead on change.
-Ability to manage short notice changes to requirements and deadlines.
-Management level knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practice (IOSH (managing Safely) desirable).
-Previous experience and understanding of MOD policy (desirable).
-Good standard of education, preferably to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.

Additional Information
MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.
Proof of right to work in UK essential
The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only. The current working hours allow for an early finish on a Friday.
Required to wear approved company work wear.
