Barnardo's is working in partnership with Sandwell Children's Trust to deliver an integrated emotional mental health and wellbeing (EMHWB) offer for children and young people we care for, as well as care-experienced young people.
As part of the Black Country locality team, you'll play a key role in providing trauma-informed assessments and therapeutic interventions to support children and young people with complex emotional needs. Your work will help them develop resilience, understand and manage their emotions, explore their experiences, and feel more settled and empowered in their lives.
You'll deliver structured support for young people:
Entering care arrangements
At risk of placement breakdown
Preparing for independence
This includes 1:1 sessions, brief interventions, mentoring, and tailored programmes that promote emotional wellbeing, goal-setting, and safe, stable care.
You'll also work closely with Sandwell Children's Trust and wider partners across health, education, social care and community services to ensure a coordinated, multi-agency response. Safeguarding is central to the role.
We're looking for candidates with:
Experience delivering therapeutic/mental health interventions for children and young people
Strong multi-agency working and advocacy skills
A flexible, creative approach to engagement
The ability to work across a variety of community settings, including homes, family hubs, and schools
This is a dynamic, face-to-face role based across the Sandwell borough, with travel up to a 20-mile radius outside of Sandwell Borough. Hybrid working arrangements are possible by agreement.
