About the role

The Faculty of Maths, English & Community are now looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Programme Leader for the new Foundation Programme, to join the well-established team. This is a fast-paced and diverse role, in which you will work closely with other Programme Leaders across a range of curriculum areas and Curriculum/Support Staff to provide high quality and responsive teaching within the Department.

Key responsibilities of the role consist of:

Planning, teaching and marking for the Foundation programme and other programmes within the Faculty as required.

Providing a high level of supportive pastoral care through tutorials and student meetings.

Close communication and liaison with the Student Support Team, EHCP Support Team and Success Coaches.

Working with other curriculum areas to manage student progression and success.

Supporting the team with internal and external quality assurance processes

Meeting with students and Parents/Carers as required for Parents’ Evenings, Open days etc and individual meetings as required

Maintaining records and tracking student progress utilising college systems and processes

Monitoring attendance and behaviour including implementing any interventions

Analysing data and producing reports using a range of systems

Meeting KPIs set as part of the College PDR process

Taking responsibility for actively engaging with CPD and development opportunities

About the person

The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in teaching, learning and assessment to foundation and entry level students. Candidates should be able to evidence a strong track record in innovative teaching practice to engage and inspire students who have entered Further Education through non-traditional educational settings and home schooling, as well as strong communication skills, adaptability and with a positive attitude to change.
The ability to foster working relationships with others and have a willingness to help and support other staff and students is vital. Furthermore, the candidate will have excellent IT skills, specialist knowledge and experience of teaching/delivering to entry qualifications. The successful candidate will ideally have a Teaching Qualification or be willing to work towards one. Strong, innovative teaching and a supportive inspiring outlook are key traits for this role. The ideal candidate will also be able to evidence a strong track record in pastoral and academic support with students.
