Summary

Saving lives, saving NHS money and transforming services for patients – that’s our mission at the Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM). We are seeking a Project Officer to join our innovation and improvement teams to play a key role in making sure citizens throughout the East Midlands, and beyond, have the opportunity to benefit from our portfolio of innovations.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work across the East Midlands with colleagues across the Health Innovation Network, contributing to national and local programmes designed to enable improvements in clinical outcomes, deliver better patient experiences, contribute to driving down the cost of care and stimulate economic growth.

This role is a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity until 30.09.2026, due to our funding only being confirmed year on year, and is subject to increase/decrease. In April 2025 we have received increased funding which this role is linked to, and funding beyond March 2026 is not yet known.

We currently take a hybrid working approach with our office based at the University of Nottingham Innovation Park. Occasional travel within the East Midlands may be required.

Provisional dates for interview are Wednesday 13 or Thursday 14 August 2025.

Working alongside the Innovation and Improvement Leads on leading the adoption and spread of a range of innovation or improvement programme across a variety of health and care organisations in the East Midlands. You will be a flexible, dynamic team player who will employ highly effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills to build networks and relationships.

Key to success will be your ability to actively engage with stakeholders, clinicians and health and care professionals, bringing them together across organisational boundaries to assess readiness to adopt, secure commitment and generate implementation plans that will result in innovative changes that are impactful and sustainable.  In addition, you will enjoy working collaboratively, adapting to the local context, finding common ground and seeking solutions.

You will be agile and flexible in your approach, able to juggle multiple programmes and take in your stride rapidly emerging priorities.

We are one of 15 Health Innovation Networks around England that operate as the innovation arm of the NHS.

We bring together partners from all sectors involved in health and care including the NHS, social care and public health, patients, research, third sector and industry – to identify, test and spread new technologies and better ways of working.

We save the NHS money, generate economic growth, empower health and care staff, and improve lives for patients.

We work closely with our health and care stakeholders to establish their priorities then provide support. As part of a national network, we import evidenced solutions from other Health Innovation Network regions and export our successful East Midlands programmes on a national basis.

We have a range of objectives, but our overarching aim is always to make a difference for patients.
