1. Training in clinical skills Undertake training to enable you to order investigations. Performing phlebotomy (venous blood sampling) after appropriate training. Performing Fibroscan elastography after appropriate training Perform hepatitis C testing by various modalities including blood spot, capillary sampling, Matrix test, oral swabs and Cepheid machine (GeneExpert) modalities. 3. Patient data and results processing To be responsible for the ordering, chasing, recording and communication to the Multi-Disciplinary Group of results from investigations To use the bespoke patient management system for recording testing, assessment, referral to MDT, treatment monitoring and outcomes Assist in design of systems to improve processes for obtaining investigations and results, based on your experience in post. 4. Teamwork This is a community-based role expectation to work on the sites of our community partners e.g. drug & alcohol services independently with support from ODN colleagues It is essential the post-holder communicates clearly and effectively with all of these and builds strong working relationships across the region. Devise, maintain and continually update a record of outstanding in-patient tests, reporting these to the nurse in charge/physician of the week as appropriate on a daily basis as well as keeping an audit of time waiting for in patient investigations. 5. Empathy The NCL ODN purposefully cultivates a culture of inclusion health. We aim to provide healthcare to those who lack the capability, opportunity or motivation to do access this alone. You will work with patients in complex, challenging situations who often respond poorly to these. This role requires patience, an ability to empathise with those in challenging circumstances and a willingness to persevere with efforts to engage patients that may not be immediately fruitful. Any other duties commensurate with the grading of your post.
