The Opportunity
We’re seeking a highly experienced EC&I Engineering Manager to lead and grow our Electrical, Control & Instrumentation function. Based in Warrington, you’ll be responsible for technical excellence, team leadership, project delivery and strategic resourcing across a variety of high-profile engineering projects.

Remuneration & Benefits
You will be entitled to an excellent salary package of £75K – £85K per annum + 5K Car allowance alongside a wide range of benefits.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

- Lead and manage all EC&I engineers and designers, including resourcing, performance reviews, holiday approvals, time writing and expense approvals.
- Develop and implement training and development plans to support staff growth and capability.
- Maintain and improve discipline-specific procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
- Drive recruitment, onboarding and succession planning within the EC&I team.
- Own and oversee all proposals, estimates and budget forecasts related to EC&I scope.
- Ensure the highest quality of EC&I design and engineering across single and multi-discipline projects.
- Appoint discipline checkers and approvers to maintain quality control and compliance.
- Deliver EC&I engineering for projects across their full lifecycle – from concept through to commissioning – in both greenfield and brownfield contexts.
- Ensure alignment of EC&I with other disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Process, Automation) throughout project delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact for EC&I within client engagements, managing scope and expectations.
- Lead internal and external design reviews, ensuring client acceptance of final design packages.
- Take ownership of change control, cost control, and schedule adherence for EC&I deliverables.
- Represent the company in cross-disciplinary meetings, championing EC&I best practices.
- Identify business development opportunities and support strategic growth of the business.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

- Minimum 3 years' experience as a line manager within an engineering or EPCM/EPC environment.
- 5+ years’ experience as Lead EC&I Engineer on complex, multi-discipline projects.
- Extensive cross-sector exposure (Oil & Gas, Energy, Nuclear, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Utilities, Food).
- Strong quality assurance background, with a history of implementing and managing technical standards.
- In-depth expertise in EC&I engineering and design, with sound working knowledge of related disciplines.
- Able to forecast resource needs and manage team utilisation effectively.
- Degree-qualified (MEng/BEng) in EC&I Engineering and ideally Chartered or working towards it.
- Comprehensive understanding of standards and regulations: BS 7671, BS 7430, IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, LV and HV systems.
- Strategic thinker with a “first-time-right” approach to planning and execution.
- Proactive leader with proven ability to delegate, motivate and manage team performance.
- Skilled at managing change requests, justifying impacts on time and cost to clients.
- Confident chair of internal and client-facing design review meetings.

The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on process and chemical site. These can include, moving machinery, working from heights, electrical hazardous, chemical burns, trips and falls, overexertion, cuts and scrapes, chemical exposure, inhalation of chemicals and confined spaces. A full site induction will be provided, and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
