The role:
A proficient and customer focused Business Support Admin Officer is required to provide an efficient and professional day to day administrative supportive to Enforcement Agents.
Key responsibilities:
To provide a customer focused bailiff service and be actively committed to equality in service provision and sensitive to the needs of customers
To have professional competence in all aspects of internal and external customer enquiries and to ensure that all customers receive a courteous, approachable, helpful and professional service
To support the efficient and effective collection of revenue in accordance with legislation and service objectives
Manage own workload and deal with casework to conclusion to achieve results.
Serve as the first point of contact for the enforcement team, handling all incoming post, calls, and emails professionally and efficiently
Collect debts in line with legislation, council policies, and data protection guidelines
Gather customer information, arrange payment plans, and process updates to payment methods
Handle and account for payments, receipts, and related documents in line with council procedures
Update and amend accounts to maximise debt recovery
Make enquiries to establish the whereabouts of absconded debtors
Work closely and co-operate with contractors retained by the council for enforcement of debts
Coordinate collection actions when individuals owe multiple debts
Offer advice, support, and referrals (e.g. to Money Advice or CAB) to uphold high customer care standards
Review service complaints and escalate to the Enforcement Manager when appropriate
Maintain accurate records and ensure data quality standards are met for timely reporting and input
What the client is looking for:
Minimum educational level of GCSE Maths and English at grade C
Strong knowledge of enforcement legislation, including Commercial Rent recovery, Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry debts, Housing Benefit overpayments, insolvency, and enforcement agent powers
Solid understanding of customer service and welfare rights issues
Proven experience in revenue enforcement or a similar environment
Skilled in adapting and following administrative procedures to support service needs.
Accurate and confidential data input and management expertise
Proficient in standard Office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience providing business support in fast-paced settings and handling difficult customers
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Trusted to handle confidential/sensitive information with integrity
Persuasive and diplomatic, with strong influencing and negotiation skills
