16 hours per week (on a two week rota), Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday / Week 2: Friday, Saturday

£31,826 - £32,488 pro rata / £17.44 - £17.80 per hour (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Customer Services Team as a Customer Service Adviser / Library Assistant on a part-time, permanent basis.
As the first point of contact for the public, you’ll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service across multiple channels, including in person at our reception desk, over the phone, via email, and online. You’ll handle a wide range of enquiries and process requests on behalf of various council services with accuracy and professionalism.
Key responsibilities are assisting customers with enquiries and service requests, processing and managing library loans and reservations, handling hostel and campsite bookings, managing payments and reconciling income received by the council, supporting applications for Blue Badges and concessionary travel, maintaining and updating customer records, assisting with testing digital forms and updating website content.
You must be proficient in Office 365 and have experience of working in a customer focused office administration role and experience in the collection of cash, cheque and card payments.
Applicants should hold SCQF level 5 qualification (e.g. SVQ 2) in business administration or customer service, or at least 2 years’ experience in a customer-focused administrative role.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
