Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities To autonomously conduct biopsychosocial and risk assessments for individuals presenting to the Acute Trust with mental health problems with MDT support available. Provide a high level of clinical expertise in the assertive management and assessment and care of patients presenting with mental health problems. Ensure that care is based on the assessment of care needs and includes a thorough risk assessment and risk management plan. Ensure good communication with other members of the Liaison Psychiatry Service as well as general hospital staff about changes in care plans. To liaise with other agencies caring for patients, including community mental health teams and GPs to provide clear plans for all patients, particularly frequent attending or high-risk patients. Utilise recent research findings in the advancement of best practice and in the delivery of an evidenced based service. Engage in Liaison Psychiatry Service educational and training events to fulfil requirements of clinical governance. To organise and provide training in psychiatry, including mental health awareness to colleagues in the Acute Trust. To provide support and expert advice to colleagues involved in the care of patients with mental health problems and to develop systems to ensure that this support is available in a range of ways. Ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 and other statutory regulations are observed and implemented within a medical setting.
