Daniel Owen are proud to be representing a leading contractor specialising in social housing refurbishments, including Planned Maintenance, Reactive Maintenance, and Decarbonisation projects. They are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team, based in Hertfordshire.

The Role:


As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of social housing refurbishment projects, including planned works. Your expertise will be essential in helping us deliver value-driven, sustainable solutions to our clients. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to work in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for planned maintenance projects in the social housing sector.
  • Work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to develop project scopes and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including sustainability and decarbonisation requirements.
  • Review and assess tenders, manage bid submissions, and provide expert advice on cost optimisation.
  • Track project costs and identify potential savings or cost overruns.
  • Work across a variety of social housing refurbishments, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are met.
  • Provide ongoing support to the delivery teams and help maintain strong client relationships.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as an Estimator in the social housing refurbishment sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of planned projects within social housing.
  • Strong understanding of cost estimation, tendering processes, and project management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • A professional qualification or equivalent experience in construction estimation is desirable.
