A leading Tier One main contractor is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator with strong commercial project experience to join their established Pre-Construction team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-value mechanical packages across major commercial developments in London and the South East.

With offices in both London and Essex, the role offers hybrid working, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates for mechanical services across a variety of large-scale commercial projects, typically valued between £1m and £50m. Working closely with design, commercial, and delivery teams, they will contribute to securing new work through high-quality tenders and bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and scope documents

  
  

• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing

  
  

• Attend internal and external tender review meetings

  
  

• Identify value engineering opportunities and manage associated risks

  
  

• Support the handover process to project delivery teams

  
  Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical estimating for commercial projects

    
    

  • Experience with Tier One contractors or reputable M&E firms

    
    

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, public health, and plant

    
    

  • Proficient with estimating software such as Trimble, Amtech, or similar

    
    

  • Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
