An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a valued member of our school team, at Castleview Primary School in Stirling as our Principal Teacher (maternity cover). This is a temporary position for one year, with cover required until October 2026.
You will be fully involved in the life and work of this happy and busy additional support needs school setting, supporting leadership of the delivery of high quality care and education of children with severe and complex additional support needs. Your remit will encompass having a key role in the day to day running of the school, line managing our team of support staff and being a critical part of the ongoing school development work. The remit is not class committed, although the leadership team support staff absence and have a high level of involvement with the children across the day.
Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic and committed individuals, with a high level of skill within the classroom and also with significant experience of working with pupils with additional support needs. This post would suit someone who is already undertaking aspects of leadership, whether you are officially already in a leadership position, or developing this currently through a teaching role. Training will be provided as required for the successful candidate in supports or interventions required by the Castleview pupils and an understanding of the complexity of care and supports we provide is important.
The successful candidate will bring a strong record of building relationships across a team, of being a strategic thinker and of managing a challenging workload. Compassion and kindness will be required as the candidate supports pupils, school families, staff and other professionals. It is essential that you are able to lead and manage the staged intervention processes, ensuring each pupil has their needs met and working with a multidisciplinary team to support this. Confidence and good organisational and communication skills are required.
The successful candidate will deputise (this role is subject to a deputising allowance) for the Head Teacher, who has an additional role within Wallace High School as Strategic Lead for Ochil House. The Castleview Principal Teacher will work jointly on areas such as planning, professional learning and quality assurance as part of a wider Complex Needs team of Ochil House and Castleview, looking to ensure a continuity across settings.
