The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Senior Lawyer in the Adult Legal Team, working with the adult social care team, for approximately 3 months.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Provide expert legal advice and representation on all aspects of adult social care law, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
Handle a varied and complex caseload, including judicial reviews, safeguarding, and best interest decisions.
Draft, negotiate, and review legal documentation and policies to ensure compliance and reduce legal risk.
Support and mentor junior legal colleagues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of legal services.
Work collaboratively with social care teams, health partners, and external stakeholders.
What the client is looking for:
A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
Experienced in adult social care law, including Court of Protection proceedings
An excellent communicator with strong analytical, drafting, and advocacy skills
Confident managing complex legal issues and advising senior officers
Proactive, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality public service
