Crynodeb
General Orthopaedic services are currently provided from two sites in Leeds. Paediatric, hand surgery and spine surgery is provided at Leeds General Infirmary. Complex and revision lower limb arthroplasty, upper limb and foot and ankle surgery are provided at Chapel Allerton Hospital. Leeds General Infirmary has 3 orthogeriatric wards, one trauma ward, one paediatric ward including 2 paediatric HDU beds, one spinal surgery ward and a four bedded HDU shared with plastic surgery. There are 2 trauma theatres running all day lists and one spine theatre. All trauma outpatients are seen in a dedicated fracture clinic with supporting radiology facilities and the A&E Department are on the ground floor of the same building. Chapel Allerton Hospital has 2 dedicated orthopaedic rehabilitation wards and one 14bedded post-operative care ward. There are 3 dedicated orthopaedic clean air theatres. The rehabilitation wards are focused on rapid post op rehabilitation with a large dedicated Physiotherapy and Occupation Therapy team. All elective orthopaedic outpatients are seen at Chapel Allerton Hospital with supporting radiology facilities including an MRI scanner in the near future.
