We are seeking an exceptional and strategic Director of Finance to join our senior leadership team. This is a critical leadership position within HInM, providing high-level financial and commercial expertise to support our ambitious programme of transformation across health, care, industry, and academia.

Health Innovation Manchester is hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead HInM’s finance and procurement work. You’ll oversee all aspects of financial planning, reporting, governance, and compliance, ensuring the organisation meets its statutory duties and operates sustainably. This includes responsibility for budgeting, financial performance, costing, procurement, commercial contracts, and risk management.

As a visible leader and trusted adviser, you’ll work with the Executive and Delivery Teams, supporting programmes, projects and strategic decisions. You will also collaborate externally with key stakeholders including NHS bodies, universities, local authorities, industry partners, and national funders.

We’re looking for a qualified and experienced senior finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will bring:

Substantial experience in strategic financial management, ideally blending experience across a range of sectors, including public sector

Strong commercial acumen and experience of project accounting, complex financial planning and reporting

Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to partnership working

Experience of procurement, contracting and resource planning in a matrixed environment

Proven leadership and people management skills
