BACKGROUND TO THE POST

To ensure that all our sensory impaired students reach their potential and are not discriminated against we wish to appoint a note taker to both deaf, hearing Impaired and visually impaired students to join our established, experienced Sensory Impaired Team.

You will be in contact with various sensory impaired students and also be working alongside our team of Communication Support Workers, this position would be particularly ideal for anyone who is interested in improving their basic sign language skills.

Working within the Inclusion team, you will be working with a variety of students and be expected to meet the College’s standards of work.
• Note taking – acting as a scribe during lessons and possibly exams.
• Performing the role of a Learning Mentor during class.
• Some support out of class to assist with assignments.
• Modifying handouts and class notes to larger font and other accessible formats.

• Undertake record keeping and other administrative tasks, ensuring the confidential nature of the work as required.
• Complete individual Risk Assessment and Individual Evacuation Plans.
• Provide learning support to non-sensory impaired students where appropriate.
