We are recruiting fora Consultant in Emergency Medicinewho wishes to join#TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards “great people, great place”.
This is a full-time position consisting of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, but candidates wishing to work part-time or in a job-share are encouraged to apply. If a part-time or job-share person is appointed modification of the job plan will be discussed with the appointee on a personal basis. Additional PAs up to a maximum of 12 can be negotiated.
The department comprises a three bedded Resus area, eight Majors cubicles, a Majors ‘Fit to Sit’ and Frailty area. Minors is a primarily 24/7 ENP delivered minor injuries area within the Urgent Treatment Centre. St Marys Hospital has a newly opened Children’s’ Emergency Department within the main ED footprint, with a high dependency area, majors and minors’ areas which are staffed 24/7 by a Paediatric nurse.
The post holder will be expected to participate in teaching of nursing staff, junior doctors and final year medical students
Undertake professional development and participate in audit, ensuring all clinical governance areas are met.
Undertake annual appraisal for revalidation purposes
1.5 SPA per week are committed to continuing professional development, as necessary. Additional SPA is applicable for agreed recognition of professional activities.
Substituting in an emergency for absent or ill colleagues and undertaking in exceptional circumstances irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties.
The post holder will communicate highly complex and sensitive information in a reassuring manner to patients, staff and the public, where there will be barriers to understanding, hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere.
The Isle of Wight Trust recognises that organisations are stronger when they work together.
