About this Role:
Project Manager / Project Lead required to run a £2m refurbishment project within a live operational hospital environment in Taunton, Somerset. Work is due to start on site later in the year, with the final stages of preconstruction to undertake first. The project has some logistical challenges given its location within the hospital and so will require careful programming of works and daily liaison with the client and stakeholders.
Previous experience of working in a live healthcare environment would be advantageous.
Reporting to the Construction Director and visiting Contracts Manager you will be responsible for managing the project from the final preconstruction stages through to start on site in in Q4 and run the construction phase through to the phased handovers next year.
You take the lead holding responsibility for input to design development, construction methodology and programme of works, logistics, control of dust and noise, plus specifically the smooth and timely progress of construction on site, health and safety, quality control ,and any issue resolution.
About the Company:
The client is the busy regional office of a national main contractor, with a turnover in excess of £30m, with secured workload in the healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, retirement living sectors across the South and West.
Projects range in size from £2m to £20m, secured through a mixture of national and regional frameworks, negotiated schemes with repeat clients, and competitive tenders. There is a good pipeline of future work, with 80% of turnover already secured for 2026.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
You will ideally be an experienced Project Manager or Senior Site Manager looking to step up and with a proven track record within a Tir 1 or 2 main contractor, able to deliver a design & build schemes as No1.
Key attributes will include excellent project team management ability, technical, contractual and commercial knowledge, plus focus and drive, and the ability to keep works on track.

Experience of delivering a healthcare project or similar within a live working environment would be advantageous..
