SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 3 & Year 5
Location: Hackney (Commutable from Stoke Newington, Dalston, Clapton, Highbury, Finsbury Park)
Pay: £95- £110 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, full academic year
We are working with a highly regarded and inclusive primary school in Hackney seeking two experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team from September. These full-time positions will support pupils with additional needs in Year 3 and Year 5, with a focus on tailored support strategies inside and outside the classroom.
The school is known for its child-centred approach and its welcoming, creative ethos. Both roles are ideal for candidates with a strong background in SEN who are passionate about helping pupils thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
About the Roles:
- Year 5 SEN TA: Focus on supporting pupils with behavioural and attention-related needs in class and during transitions.
- Year 3 SEN TA: Supporting children with communication and interaction difficulties through consistent 1:1 and small group support.
- Implementing SEN strategies such as visual aids, structured routines, and personalised prompts
- Offering behaviour management support in line with the school's positive reinforcement approach
- Delivering small group instruction and 1:1 academic interventions
- Supporting class routines, lesson planning and progress monitoring
- Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A solid understanding of supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs
- Experience adapting learning tasks and using SEN teaching strategies
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, firm but fair approach
- A proactive and flexible mindset suited to a fast-paced KS2 environment
