Division of Health Research

Administrative Assistant (PalCaRe NWC)

Grade 4

Part-time (0.20 fte – 7.25 hours)

We are looking to appoint an administrative assistant to contribute to and assist in the administration of a range of functions across the Palliative Care Research Network North West (PalCaRe NW) hosted at Lancaster University as part of the International Observatory on End of Life Care.

The Palliative Care Research Network North West is a network of those engaged in palliative care research across North West England. It is currently funded by the Research Delivery Network North West. The network is guided by a steering committee constituted of representatives from Universities, research organisations and clinical sites across the region. The primary responsibility of the administrative assistant is to support the work of this steering committee.

The successful applicant may have experience of working in the University, research or health care sectors. We are more interested however in the skills and aptitudes you can bring to help coordinate our research activities including organising complex meetings and seminars, accurate and helpful minute taking with action points, and administering our activities to help support researchers across palliative care.

We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative individual with excellent organisation skills and with the proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. The role will involve proficiency in a range of IT solutions including the Microsoft suite of applications including Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Our team and the Division of Health Research provide a friendly environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee and which actively promotes a healthy work-life balance. The Faculty is committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies and has held a Silver Athena SWAN award since 2014 in recognition of its good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including working week and days/hours worked, flexible start and finish times.

You will join Lancaster University on an indefinite contract however the role remains contingent on external funding which at this time is due to end on 31st March 2026. This is a part-time role 0.20 fte (7.25 hours).

Applicants wishing to consider the Skilled Worker Route should ensure they meet the points requirement before applying. Further information can be found on the UK Visas and Immigration website.

Informal enquiries are welcome. Please contact Professor Catherine Walshe c.walshe@lancaster.ac.uk
