Your new role
We are working with a primary school located in St Helens looking for an experienced Key Stage 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September. This is a full-time temporary role with the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate. We are looking for individuals who are confident, patient, compassionate and committed to supporting the educational progress of pupils, including those with SEN needs.
You will be working in the classroom helping children thrive in their learning environment whilst also providing one-to-one support and assisting small groups.
Your key duties:

  • Implement systems to manage difficult behaviour
  • Offer support to the classroom teacher
  • Encourage pupils to be focused and involved in all activities and learning
  • Observe and record children's progress, sharing insights with the teaching team
  • Support children's social, emotional, and physical development
  • Hold smaller support groups to assist in learning
  • Find new ways to engage students and adapt learning materials


What you'll need to succeed

  • DBS
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant Desirable
  • Skills in communication, literacy & numeracy
  • SEN Teaching Assistant Qualification desirable
  • Attributes such as patience, empathy, creativity, and flexibility
  • Experience of working with children with different levels of needs
  • Transferable skills
