Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint 2 full time Locum Specialist Registrar in General Surgery.
The successful applicants will be required for a 6 month fixed term contract from October 2025 and will participate in the General Surgery emergency on call rota.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Fellow to join our dynamic General Surgery team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT). This post offers excellent clinical exposure and training opportunities for doctors wishing to broaden their experience in a busy tertiary surgical unit. The role is ideal for individuals seeking to build their surgical portfolio or preparing for core surgical training or specialty training applications.
This post is offered on a full-time basis and is based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, with the opportunity to rotate across other LUHFT sites if required.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work alongside a team of junior and senior doctors, providing high-quality care to patients under the General Surgery service. Responsibilities will include:
• Participation in the daily ward rounds and management of inpatient care.
• Assisting in elective and emergency surgical procedures.
• Managing acute admissions and surgical emergencies under supervision.
• Attending and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Participation in the on-call rota as per departmental requirements.
• Engagement with audit, quality improvement projects, and departmental teaching.
This is a non-training post, but it mirrors many of the clinical and educational opportunities of a training role. You will receive regular supervision, be encouraged to attend departmental teaching sessions, and supported to develop your clinical and professional skills.
