At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.
Guide daily IT operations that empower thousands of users
In this senior role, you’ll lead a team of end-user computing engineers, managing their day-to-day work while staying hands-on with technical issues yourself. You’ll make sure incidents are resolved quickly, coordinating tasks and advising customers on progress and workarounds to keep their services running smoothly.
You’ll also identify and investigate recurring problems, working with infrastructure teams, software developers and incident managers to find long-term solutions. From building and configuring managed devices to improving user experience through well-planned change requests, you’ll be central to delivering reliable services.
But that’s not all – you’ll coach and develop your team, mentor junior staff, and ensure all technical documentation is clear and up to date. Confident working with people at all levels, you’ll manage relationships with internal teams and customers, always focused on delivering high-quality support. And with your commitment to staying up to date with the latest technologies, you’ll help your team grow and keep our services future-ready.
Apply your technical skills / to support vital government operations
You’ll be someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, bringing substantial experience in IT roles within secure settings. With a Level 3 qualification in Information Communication Technology or Computer Science – or equivalent relevant experience – you’ll have practitioner-level knowledge of the hardware, software, and systems you support. Your Microsoft Associate certification will back up your expertise, and you’ll be confident working across a range of operating systems and technologies.
As someone who’s led teams before, you’ll be organised, calm under pressure, and focused on delivering the best outcomes for users. If you also bring knowledge of traditional and mobile networking technologies, certificate-based authentication, or experience working in an ITIL environment, that would be a bonus. Most importantly, you’ll combine your strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving, always ready to support your team and keep services running smoothly.
Discover the support you need to grow your career further
But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting at fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
