Regional Transport Manager who has fleet management experience with a full understanding of national and international transport compliance regulations and solid planning and organisational skills is required for a well-established company based in Edinburgh, Scotland.


SALARY: £43,000 - £46,000 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid working from Home and from the Office in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. This role will also involve travel to Vehicle Operating Centres and Third-Party Supplier Locations around the country.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week


KEY REQUIREMENT: Successful candidates MUST have a full driving licence


JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Regional Transport Manager who has fleet management experience with a full understanding of national and international transport compliance regulations and solid planning and organisational skills.

Working as the Regional Transport Manager you will be responsible for ensuring effective management of the vehicle fleet, HGV’s, LVC’s White & Grey fleet in your sector along with the associated administration belonging to those fleet vehicles.

The South Transport Manager will manage the Operators licences across the company for the HGVs (>3.5t) commercial vehicles with the North Transport Manager being a secondary name on all Operators licenses.

As the Regional Transport Manager a key requirement will also be to ensure compliance and vehicle management and to inspect all vehicular records across the fleet.


DUTIES

Your duties as a Regional Transport Manager will include:

• Ensuring effective communication and engagement with key stakeholders at operating centres (e.g., named Fleet Contacts) across the business. Working effectively with other key stakeholders, including the named Fleet Contacts is key to the success of this role

• Providing governance to ensure that the company fulfils the requirements for managing the administration for the operators licences for the business

• Ensuring that the governance includes support, monitoring, audit and reporting of the operator’s licence administration

• Providing ‘consultancy/expertise’ to stakeholders regarding their HGV fleet requirements

• Manage the performance of appropriate third-party leasing companies, e.g., Zenith, FFM and others, including periodic hire

• Visiting operating centres on a periodic basis, as required by the licence and best practice to assess standards, undertake compliance training, and audit operational performance

• Maintaining and implementing policies, processes, and procedures, handbooks and driver handouts and safety bulletins where needed

• Overseeing the management of the branches transport operations to ensure legal compliance with the legislation and regulation for its operational activities and ensure adequate record-keeping to demonstrate compliance with European and UK legislation and regulation

• Carrying out risk assessments and presenting results

• Monitoring tachograph infringement levels, Accident and Damage levels, Vehicle Service, Inspection and MOT, Accuracy of Training records and Legal compliance

• Management of administration associated to the fleet for your region on a day-to-day basis to ensure they are supporting the business with their requirements

• Managing the Fleet BPIs on a monthly basis to ensure targets are met. To ensure all work is undertaken within the job holder’s demonstrated level of competence

• Covering for the other regional Transport Manager when on leave, plus ad hoc duties as requested by the HR Director / Director of fleet services


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Full Driving licence - (preferably clean)

• Fully CPC qualified with fleet experience

• A full understanding of the requirements for transport compliance nationally and internationally

• Significant experience and knowledge of transport regulations

• Impact and influence, with strong written and oral communication skills

• Experience in managing and monitoring Tachograph systems

• Concern for order and quality – e.g., accuracy, quality, comprehensive record keeping

• Analytical and creative thinking

• Planning and organising

• Problem solving and analysis

• Specialist knowledge – Broad fleet industry experience is advantageous

• Strong supplier performance management

• Strategic thinker

• Understanding and experience of working with Microsoft packages. High level of PC literacy

• High level of commercial and finance acumen

• Understanding and experience of planning and progress monitoring
