Crynodeb

The King's Harbour Master (KHM) Plymouth is responsible, by Act of Parliament, for protecting the port of Plymouth for military use. This means prioritisation of military activity above other activity where necessary. KHM is also responsible for port safety, for the environment, and for maintaining business continuity for the commercial harbours, facilities and traffic within the port. The port has a diverse range of military and non-military activity, requiring a balance to be struck between all this activity. The port handles some 4,000 large ship movements per year, and runs a permanent Vessel Traffic Service to handle this volume of traffic.

The Vessel Traffic Services Manager (VTSM) is responsible for delivery of safe and continuous management of vessel traffic management services in the Dockyard Port of Plymouth. This forms a vital part of the KHM port safety requirements - to keep a continuous watch of appropriately qualified staff for safe and successful VTS port operations. The successful VTSM candidate will not only have people skills to manage the KHM watchkeepers, but will also be able to support the watchkeeping staff in their interface role with port users, both military and the general public. If you believe that you have these qualities and the requisite qualifications, this is a great opportunity to play a vital safety and managerial role in a key UK port!

This is a uniform grade post - uniform is to be worn and will be provided.

Remote working within this role is something that can be discussed at interview stages or with your future line manager if you are found successful.

Please note, candidates will be redirected to the Civil Service Jobs website where you will need to submit your application form. Please note the closing date above is incorrect and cannot be amended so please check the closing date on Civil Service Jobs and allow enough time to submit your application form.
