Job Title: Children’s Support Worker

Responsible to: Directly to the employer

Hours: 4 hours weekly or 8 hours fortnightly
(regular weekend hours - day/time to be mutually convenient to candidate/employer)

Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.50 per hour

Based at: Walton on Trent, DE12

Job Purpose

This family are looking for a children’s support worker to provide care and support to their charming autistic 7-year-old boy.

Main Duties

Providing constant supervision to a lovely, easy going little boy, to ensure his wellbeing and general safety at all times.

To support with all aspects of daily living and play in the home and community. He is nonspeaking, so picking up on physical cues and gestures is important. He enjoys being outside in the garden, playing on his swing, looking at books and listening to music.

To encourage and assist the young boy to participate in sensory activities, such as jumping on the trampoline and playing with musical toys. Initially support will be provided at home but once all parties are confident, support will be provided in the community.

To support with feeding and drinking. Ensuring he has snacks when requested and prompting him to drink.

To provide personal care as and when needed.

To carry out other tasks deemed appropriate to the role, when necessary.

Have a gentle and calm demeanour.
Be patient and supportive.
Be kind, friendly and fun.
Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
An experience of working with children with additional needs is desirable, but not essential.
Be respectful of the little boy’s dignity, at all times.
Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.
Have excellent communication skills
Have a full driving licence.

Special Conditions
