Summary

As the RL3 for the Royal Navy you will ensure organisational compliance with BS EN 4179 including NDT training, assessment and qualification. In a varied and diverse role, you will review MOD NDT regulation and policy, advise on equipment procurement to ensure standards are satisfied; ensuring NDT helps to maintain platform structural and systems integrity.

You will lead a military team of NDT Level 3 personnel located at 1710 NAS, and Level 2 personnel geographically located to support in-service NDT for UK military helicopters and some fixed wing platforms. You will oversee, develop and deliver NDT Work Instructions to meet customer and service requirements; this will be achieved by managing and utilising the personnel and qualifications held within 1710 NAS.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

Ensuring compliance of Navy and Army aviation NDT with European Standard BS EN 4179 and implementing the MOD’s NDT training and certification requirements.

Represent the Royal Navy at inter-command working groups, and at the National Aerospace NDT Board; ensuring the Service requirements and interests are represented.
The provision of subject matter expertise to support the existing Level 2s and 3s in the development of NDT Work Instructions.
The continued professional development of the Level 2 and Level 3 personnel.
Monitoring and influencing the development of emerging NDT technologies and policy and adopting both to meet in-Service requirements.
Provide ad-hoc NDT support for component failure and accident investigations and to meet customer requirements.
