As a Digital Technician with Gloucestershire Podiatry Service, you will work autonomously within the Podiatry laboratory as well as nominated clinical locations around the county and will be accountable to the Locality Lead. You will be responsible for the manufacture of complex foot orthoses using 3D printer technology, manufacture of and adjustment of simple insoles and overseeing the workflow through the laboratory. Working with the Locality and Clinical Leads you will be responsible for the manufacture of bespoke insoles using a 3D printer. There will be a requirement to translate the insole prescription into the Computer Aided Design (CAD) programme and upload for printing. The main responsibilities include: To have day to day responsibility for the running of the manufacturing laboratory. To supervise and delegate work to assistants this can include booking prescriptions in and out, chasing and querying prescriptions and stock management. To have good organisational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills. To be able to discuss insole material and manufacturing options with a prescriber to achieve the best outcome for the patient. To participate in regular stock checks and monitor the use of materials within the laboratory. To maintain and update the COSHH and risk assessment files relevant to the environment. To ensure manufacturing equipment is maintained, working well, serviced in accordance with the service plan and any faults reported to the clinical lead. To develop techniques in orthotic manufacture and obtain relevant qualifications. To be able to demonstrate evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
