The role:

We are looking for a proactive and organised Admin Support Officer to join the Planning Development operational support team in assisting the Development Management Officers with the effective delivery of statutory processes and providing flexible support across the wider Planning and Assets Service.

The successful candidate will play a key role in engaging with customers, including the public, communities, applicants, stakeholders and the development history and will carry out a range of administrative tasks to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely support for the planning services.



Key responsibilities:

To ensure accurate data entry into ICT systems for the timely processing of planning applications and related development management functions, including pre-applications and enforcement
To maintain documentation and information as required by statutory regulations relating to Planning Development functions
To speak to customers and members of the public at reception and over the telephone to provide general advice in relation to the standard procedures and processes
To operate the services CRM function, managing and monitoring the system on behalf of Planning Development Management and ensuring responses are properly recorded
To respond to general enquiries and documentation requests arising from local land searches
To administer processes in relation to raising and recording fee income in line with requirements of the council’s financial system



What the client is looking for:

Minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent at grades A to C including English Language.
Working towards achieving a BTEC National in Public Administration or NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent
Experience of dealing with members of the public in person and over the telephone within an office environment
Experience of working with IT systems and software packages designed to support service delivery
Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of people from different backgrounds
Ability to recognise key issues, identify problems and find, and implement, solutions
Familiarity with and ability to use relevant ICT infrastructure
Ability to demonstrate a can do and pragmatic approach to solving general service delivery issues
Approachable personality with enthusiasm and self-motivation
