About Müller Milk & Ingredients Division (MMID)
Müller Milk & Ingredients is the UK’s leading producer and distributor of fresh milk, cream, butter, and dairy ingredients. MMID operates a nationwide logistics and manufacturing network, delivering over 2.5 billion litres of milk annually to more than 6,000 locations. We are committed to operational excellence, sustainability, and supporting British agriculture.We are now seeking a strategic and transformational leader to join our team as Head of Operations – MMID. This is a high-impact, field-based role responsible for driving operational performance, leading change, and aligning site-level execution with group-wide strategy.

- Pattern: Monday – Friday (40 hours per week)

Head of Operations Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership

- Align site strategies with overall Group objectives to deliver world-class performance in safety, quality, service, cost, and people.
- Lead the development and execution of long-term operational plans, ensuring alignment with MMID’s commercial and supply chain goals.
- Drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, key performance indicator (KPI) tracking, and cost-competitive initiatives.
- Play a key part in the implementation of the business strategy and growth.

Performance & Financial Management

- Full ownership of site-level financial performance, including budget delivery of circa £300m PA, cost control, and profit improvement.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost, maximise yield, and improve labour efficiency.
- Provide governance for major capital projects and oversee asset optimisation.

Change & Transformation

- Lead cross-functional change initiatives across the business whilst championing continuous improvement methodologies
- Drive systems and process innovation to support transformation and scalability.

People & Culture

- Inspire and engage site teams to deliver stretching KPIs through clear communication, recognition, and development plans.
- Build high-performing teams, manage succession planning, and lead talent development across operational functions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Customer & Commercial Focus

- Partner with Commercial and New Product Development (NPD) teams to ensure operational readiness for new product launches and customer requirements.
- Act as a senior ambassador for MMID, supporting customer relationships and site visits.
- Ensure consistent delivery of excellent service and compliance with customer and regulatory standards.

Compliance & Governance

- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, and Regulatory standards.
- Ownership of 1600 vehicle assets across 14 operating centres.
- Lead environmental initiatives and sustainability projects in line with MMID’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments.
