Support for you on your first steps as a Registered Childrens Nurse, or as an experienced Registered Nurse as you transition to a new role: A Bespoke Induction:A tailored induction program with dedicated support from our paediatric practice development team during your first month. Supernumerary Period:Spend time working under supervision with our current team to ensure you feel confident and supported. During this time, you will have regular contact with the paediatric practice development team, and you will have a designated buddy. Ongoing Support: Regular meetings with your preceptor, team leader, or manager to guide your professional growth during your first 6 months. 2. Your First Year - Specialised Preceptorship Programmes: Trust Preceptorship:This is a Trust wide structured program which is designed to help you build confidence and competence, enhance your collaborative abilities and ensure high-quality patient care. This programme study days focused on areas including transitioning from student to professional, fundamentals of quality improvement, advanced communication skills, and leadership and development. This programme has been awarded the NationalPreceptorshipInterim Quality mark award which highlights the gold standards expected of an NHS Trustspreceptorshipprogramme. Paediatric Preceptorship (Childrens Services):In addition to the trust wide preceptorship, we offer a tailored paediatric preceptorship programme for all of our newly qualified Childrens Nurses who work within Ward 4, Ward 5, Childrens Emergency Department, Community Team and Planned Care Services. This is a programme that includes study sessions focused on: paediatric respiratory care, high dependency care, long-term ventilation and tracheostomy management, mental health, oncology, and diabetes care. Neonatal Foundation Programme (Neonatal Services):In addition to the trust preceptorship, we offer the Thames Valley and Wessex Neonatal Operational Delivery Network 1 year foundation programme. This comprises of a number of modules including learning focused on care of the neonate in special care, as well as specific sessions focused on respiratory, nutrition and thermoregulation. In addition, you will also attend Paediatric Intermediate Life Support (PILS) if you work within acute, planned or community Paediatric Services or the Mat-Neo Study Day if you work within our Neonatal Services. Alongside the above training opportunities, you will work within an experienced multi-disciplinary team who have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share. We also offer simulation and hot topic training throughout the year to ensure you keep up to date with current practice and developments. 3. Ongoing Learning and Development To support you in your ongoing development, we offer a wide range of specialised courses to enhance your skills and knowledge and to support you in developing your career and these include: Paediatric andNeonatal Courses: Practice Supervisor and Assessor, Human Factors, Leadership Training, Venepuncture and Cannulation, Central Line Access and progression to Nurse in Charge Study Day. Paediatric Specific Courses: Paediatric Level 1 Critical Care Theory and Practical Training, High Dependency Course (University Accredited) and European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS). There may also be further opportunities to attend courses focused on caring for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, mental health crisis, pain management, acute safeguarding concerns, and oncology treatment including care of children receiving chemotherapy. Neonatal Specific Courses: Qualified in Specialty Neonatal Course (University Accredited), Family Integrated Care, Breastfeeding, NLS (Newborn Life Support), STABLE, Bereavement Care and Transitional Care Specific Training Opportunities.
