As an HLTA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting teaching staff, leading learning, and directly contributing to pupils' academic progress and well-being. You will be instrumental in ensuring continuity of learning and a high standard of educational support across various primary age groups.
Your Role: Key Contributions at a Higher Level
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, your key contributions will include:
- Leading whole-class lessons, covering PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) time, and supporting teacher absences as required.
- Delivering targeted interventions for individuals and small groups across literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas.
- Assessing pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers, and contributing to pupil assessment and record-keeping.
- Supporting the planning and resourcing of lessons, adapting materials to meet diverse learning needs.
- Promoting positive behaviour and fostering an inclusive, engaging classroom environment.
- Collaborating closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, and other support professionals.
What We Require: Essential Qualifications & Skills
To thrive in this elevated role, you'll need:
- A recognised Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification is essential.
- Proven experience working as an HLTA or a highly experienced Senior Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to lead a class effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
- The capability to plan and deliver engaging learning activities independently.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid enhanced DBS check or the willingness to obtain one.
