Location: Derby, DE22
Weekly Rate: £105 - £115 daily rate
Contract: Long-term to permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Term Time Only)
Start Date: September 2025

About the Role
Long Term Futures are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Derby (DE22). We're looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who is currently working on an individualised curriculum at EYFS level.
The ideal candidate will provide consistent, nurturing support and use tailored communication tools and structured routines to support the child's engagement, emotional regulation, and independence.
This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil working at EYFS developmental level
- Deliver a tailored, play-based and structured learning programme
- Use communication strategies such as PECS, visual schedules, and sensory regulation techniques
- Help manage the child's sensory needs and emotional responses
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists
- Track progress and celebrate small, meaningful steps
What We're Looking For
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, particularly those working at early development stages
- Understanding of the EYFS framework, communication tools, and sensory strategies
- Calm, patient, and proactive approach
- Strong commitment to consistency, routine, and inclusive support
